Each committee is responsible for the areas/issues below and for monitoring contract compliance by management. No committee works in isolation from any other committee as there are obvious areas of overlap. A director will serve on each committee, but interested members are encouraged to participate and where appropriate Chair different committees. Each committee will make budget recommendations for its respective area. The following list only shows the Directors involved in each committee unless a member who is not a director chairs the committee. Members are encouraged to contact the committee chairman on any issues or concerns. Recreation Committee (Joan Smith & Larry Lapkin co-chairs) comprised of: Pool and Tennis —Directors: Joan Smith (Chair), Anita Ormsby. Pool: All pool activities and access issues including Board approval of any member parties and rules for parties (per DPA Rules and Regulations). Tennis: All tennis activities, events, programs, access issues an pro contract. Beach and Pier —Directors: Larry Lapkin (Chair), Steve Wood. All beach and pier activities and access issues including Board approval of any member parties and rules for parties (per DPA Rules and Regulations) All issues related to use, allocation and operation of the buoys and buoy boat. All issues related to use, allocation and operation of the kayak rack and beach storage. Building and Grounds Committee Co-Chairs: Sky Richardson and Nancy Hardesty Director: J. Hickingbotham Make recommendations for any changes/improvements to DPA buildings and property and monitoring of maintenance of all DPA buildings and property. Ensure contract compliance with respect to building and grounds issues. Conduct walkabouts with WMC to develop punch-list of items needing attention (in coordination with respective recreation sub-committees). Make recommendations for any changes/improvements to existing landscaping. Promote fire safety on DPA properties and work for defensible space throughout DP. Social Committee Director: Lud Spolyar (Chair) Responsible for planning and in coordination with respective pool or pier subcommittee scheduling all social events such as film nights, family BBQs, AGM party, etc. Finance Committee Directors: Steve Wood (Chair & Treasurer), Bard Wilmar Review of monthly expenditures Preparation of Annual Budget Investments Allocation of financial resources Review of Reserves Contract Review [Query: should this be Legal] Recommendation on level of dues, based on Budget and forecast long term needs. Capital Projects/Long Range Planning Committee Directors: J. Hickingbotham (Chair), Steve Wood, Joan Smith, Anita Ormsby Consider and make recommendations on any short or long range projects for DPA involving any major expenditures of the capital or replacement reserves. Supervise any ongoing capital projects in conjunction with respective committee(s). Nominating Committee Directors: Lud Spolyar (Chair), J. Hickingbotham Duties as per DPA Bylaws Communications Committee Director: Anita Ormsby (Chair) Supervise of "The Point" Contract Preparation of newsletter Responsible for ongoing maintenance, upgrades or changes to the website Prepares other member communications Annual Member Survey Legal Committee Directors: Anita Ormsby (Secretary and Chair), Bard Wilmar, Joan Smith Advised by Legal Counsel —Dean Headley Reviews and makes recommendations on any proposals to change/update the Articles, Bylaws, Rules or Regulations. Reviews and makes recommendations on any contracts, easements or other legal commitment by DPA. Monitor of all existing contracts, easements or commitments. Review all contract compliance including management contract issues not covered by other committees. Negotiate new or renewed Management contract for approval by the Board. First review of all other legal matters.
